There is something October does  
that no other month can manage —

it makes the ending beautiful  
on purpose.

As if to say:  
look what happens  
when you stop holding on.

Look at the colour of letting go.  
Look at how the light gets kind  
right before it leaves.

I have been trying to learn this  
for years —  
how to make something golden  
out of almost over.

October does it  
every single time  
without being asked.

I'm taking notes.
